| It's been two months since our network provider moved, and a hosting deal they set up for us fell through. We've had a hell of a time finding a new home for VectorStar, but I'm very glad to say that we are back online.
We are back on DSL, which turned up last night. Right now we're having some bandwidth problems (it looks like the phone company screwed up our provisioning). For the time being, VectorStar only has about 64kbit of bandwidth for outgoing traffic. When this is fixed (probably later today), we will have 384kbit and things will start flowing smoothly. Thanks for putting up with us through this ordeal. Now that the servers are VERY close to home, you should start seeing us bring up new services soon. | |

| It looks like our bandwidth is fixed! I set up some preliminary bandwidth metering controls, so you probably won't see any single downloads at 45k/sec... but it will mean that websites will still be very responsive, even if there's a ton of email and FTP traffic. Pretty cool stuff, really. | |

| Just like the last time we had to replace a drive on the file server, it was an extreme pain in the ass! I FINALLY got the sucker to start rebuilding... It'll probably take 2 hours. Somehow I get the feeling that drive #4 in the array is going to die next... call it intuition.
One of the two drives running the OS on vector spat a couple bad sectors up in the last week as well. Man, I LOVE these IDE drives! hah... they just don't make things like they used to. | |

| Right now the servers are about a mile from home and we can go there pretty much any time we please... :) It's a real nice arrangement. We're gonna try setting up a high-speed directional wireless link between our house and the servers (mainly just because we can!)... It's awesome being able to work on the servers whenever I want to again! | |
