| Vector took a dive again last night, taking down the rest of the network. No cause could be found. Right now our best guess is bad RAM. We'll be replacing the RAM in vector this week, hopefully resolving the problem. | |

| The network will be down for about 30 minutes tonight (starting at approx. 8pm EST) so we can replace the RAM in vector. | |

| Well, 30 minutes turned into 15 hours of downtime. What we thought was a RAM problem ended up being a motherboard problem. After 3 hours and 3 different motherboards not working, we gave up for the night and brought the server home. About half of the parts of Apathy (which used to run VectorStar single-handedly) were thrown into Vector... so Vector is now a Dual PII Xeon 450 system. Talk about overkill for a file server! | |
